Further considerations
Mountain contour: Gives great security and privacy by its very shape and contour.
No one can build in mid-air next to you. Living on a mountain-top is like getting
a thousand acres of privacy for free--- only better!
Crisp, clean air: Breathe fresh, clean, clear and crisp air year-around. Unlike valley and
pasture areas where smoke and pollution settles-- even from miles away--
mountain-tops always have fresh and clean air circulating across them.
Blue skies and sunshine: Mountains over 1,000' in elevation often have clear blue
skies while valleys and pasture areas are clouded with fog and rain. One can
amazingly look down on a rug of clouds obliterating the valleys and have sunny
skies overhead. Truly, inspiring!!!
Chef's kitchen and eating area with breath-taking Blue Ridge views. SubZero ref/freezer,
Wolf 48" duel fuel range high-end appliances, granite counter-tops, a huge 5' x 7' island for food preparation and entertaining, and a bar area!!! Custom cherry Wood Mode cabinetry with many utility options, including a butler's serving cart on wheels with drop leaf extenders. Look down on the pool or pond where eagles soar overhead, and abundant wildlife thrives in every direction.
Very rare black walnut from the house site was used to trim much of the fireplaces and
detail. Many additional trees on site.
Modern age construction: Unlike many of the manor houses in the hunt country, this
house was built by a world renown architect. The framing wood
Douglas Fir was all brought from the west coast and much of the house is built of
steel and can withstand a force wind of 125mph plus!!! The floors all have felt under
them to stop noise. All heat/ ac zones are insulated for temp and noise.
UL Master Label: Only one of a hand full of houses in the country to be awarded the
prestigious Master Label for lightning protection displayed in the panel room
A real mountain: USGS only recognizes mountains over 1,000' as real mountains in
the U.S. and then allows names for them. The name of the mountain is Prickly
Pear Mountain (elevation 1,050'), and the house site is twice the height of the Washington
Monument. The views are 10 times better!!!
History: The mountain was a Civil War signal post. Also, Wallis Simpson stayed
on the site with the Manley family while she was waiting for her divorce to marry
Edward the VIII of England.
Many of the most revered presidents and industrialists have enjoyed their mountain-tops "as a great
escape to peace and tranquility" including: Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson, Randolph Hearst,
and G.W. Vanderbilt of "Biltmore" fame-- the largest home in the country.
